Aug. 10 marks the first World Lion Day, which aims to call attention to the endangerment of lions and the importance of conservation efforts. This is the first global effort to increase awareness of their endangerment. Organizers are rallying behind the message that to lose the lion from our world would be to lose part of our global heritage.
Marasa properties in Uganda will be contributing to this important cause. Chobe Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge and Mweya Safari Lodge will donate $1 per room night to the Uganda Conservation Foundation that helps free lions from hunter snares. Other contributors include the Bumi Hills Safari Lodge and Spa, David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa and the Royal Zambezi Lodge.
