With 132 hotel deals signed and a total of 44 new properties opening in 2016, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide’s global growth for its Specialty Select Brands — Aloft Hotels, Four Points and Element — has increased 89 percent from last year. The new properties will bring this segment’s total portfolio to more than 350 hotels worldwide and will be a record number of new deals signed in a one-year period.
“Fueled by continued owner/developer interest in Starwood’s select service brands, as well as enthusiasm for the benefits of the Marriott merger, Aloft, Element and Four Points continue to expand at a very encouraging rate, leading our global pipeline growth in 2016,” said Simon Turner, president of global development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
