My husband and I were sitting in a theater at a large all-inclusive Mexican resort in Cancun, watching the Latin Night Dance Show, when he leaned over and whispered exactly what I had been thinking: “I feel like I’m at one of our daughter’s dance recitals.”
We had seen the same group of performers the night before at the resort’s Las Vegas Revue show, and even though the music and costumes were different, most of the moves were the same. After two nights, we decided that going to bed early was preferable to staying up again for the evening show.
All-inclusive vacations are incredibly popular in Cancun, but all resorts are not created equally. At some properties, entertainment seems to be an afterthought. But two resort chains stand out from the rest by securing top performers and offering unique shows. If your clients are staying at one of these properties, chances are they won’t choose to turn in early.
An Entertainment Oasis
Oasis Cancun and Grand Oasis Cancun put significant effort into securing top-notch performers, and the hotels boast about their entertainment offerings in their marketing efforts, with good reason.
“Every year, Oasis Hotels & Resorts strives to raise the bar as an all-inclusive, excitement-driven property,” said Enrique Klein, vice president of sales and marketing for the company. “We cater specifically to guests of all ages who enjoy the convenience of an all-inclusive resort but also seek one-of-a-kind travel experiences and world-class entertainment.”
Grand Oasis Cancun has a large arena with a spectacular stage and the most modern technology for light and sound. Kool & The Gang, Janelle Monae, Matt Jordan and Melanie Fiona have all taken the stage.
Both Cancun resorts feature a stellar lineup of performances, including concerts by internationally renowned artists, burlesque shows, live bands, comedy sketches, clowns, rollerbladers and even world-title boxing fights. Each summer, the resorts also host a remarkable music program with four distinctive festivals.
The Entertainment Palace
In recent years, Palace Resorts has repositioned its Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort as an entertainment destination and has secured A-list performers to grace the property’s state-of-the art stage.
Palace Resorts has not yet announced its 2016 entertainment lineup, but 2015 featured legendary groups such as Kansas, REO Speedwagon and Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
“Our signature property, Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, has become synonymous with world-class entertainment and has hosted performances by renowned artists such as Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira and Usher,” said Kathy Halpern, vice president of sales and marketing for Palace Resorts. “We are excited to close 2015 with the limited engagement of Broadway’s holiday smash hit ‘The Illusionists,’ featuring remarkable magic, heart-pounding stunts and electrifying music.”
Guests who stay five nights or more at Moon Palace receive a $1,500 resort credit that can be used to purchase concert tickets and other upgrades. Guests at Le Blanc Spa Resort, Beach Palace, Sun Palace or Playacar Palace can usually use resort credits or cash to purchase tickets for concerts at Moon Palace, but transportation will cost extra.
