CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort

JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa

The JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa and CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort are sister properties that stand side by side. But don’t let their proximity fool you — each property appeals to a very different audience.

The JW Marriott is the more luxurious of the two and attracts an upscale, adult clientele. It also recently completed a $190,000 upgrade to its lobbies. The renovation integrates a more modern, sophisticated design featuring dark wood finishes and new wallpaper and flooring. Additionally, the 35,000-square-foot, Maya-inspired spa underwent its own makeover. The spa’s public areas are now bright and inviting, and guests can expect to see new bedding and wood finishes in its massage treatment room. The spa offers sweeping views of the ocean and an extensive treatment menu. The accompanying fitness center is impressive as well and will definitely appeal to those looking to keep up with their workout routines while on vacation.

JW Marriott’s on-property restaurants are sophisticated and will appeal to food aficionados. The AAA Four Diamond Gustino’s offers a combination of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and provides an elegant dining experience for couples who want an intimate night out. Sedona Grill offers a wonderful breakfast buffet, and the Beach Walk is a great place to enjoy beach and ocean views over authentic Mexican cuisine and specialty cocktails.

Sister property CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort is more casual and appeals to multigenerational travelers with its large pool, family-friendly restaurants and popular kids program. The variety of restaurants is one of the big draws for the resort.  La Isla, located right on the beach, features comfort food — sandwiches, salads and snacks — with fabulous views. Sasi Thai is a favorite for its atmosphere, featuring thatched roofs, glowing lanterns at night and a wonderful open-air breeze. La Capilla Argentina Steakhouse offers a fabulous breakfast buffet, the diversity of which is sure to please even the pickiest child’s palate. Small groups can have dinner in the “wine cave” and can pick from 200 different labels from around the world. Mikado, a Teppanyaki-style restaurant, is a good fit for kids who like to be entertained and adults who like fresh, healthy food. Champions Sports Bar is ideal for those who want a taste of home, with 40 screens, burgers, beers and pool tables.

Those looking for a little rest and relaxation will want to hit the swim-up bar — after checking the kids into the resort’s children’s program, of course. The well-maintained kids program includes Spanish lessons, swimming, pinata-making, arts and crafts, sand castle contests and more.

Casa Magna offers 450 guestrooms, while JW Marriott offers 448 guestrooms — all accommodations at both properties feature private balconies. Both properties attract groups, and it’s not uncommon for large groups to buy out the entire compound. Combined or separately, the resorts are commonly used for meetings, conventions and weddings. They offer extensive indoor and outdoor meeting room space, dual access of the resorts’ pools and restaurants for all guests and access to the clean, white-sand beaches of Cancun.
