From architecture that captures the essence of Mexico to warmth that creates a sense of staying in a friend’s beach house, boutique hotels along Riviera Maya cater to individual needs. If your clients are intent on avoiding hustle and bustle, you’ll want to share with them the area’s boutique mystique.

To follow is a peak at several Boutiques of Riviera Maya properties. Each can be contacted directly to confirm their operational status following Hurricane Emily.

“We are still in the process of assessing damages, however recovery initiatives are progressing well and tourists at this very moment are enjoying our beautiful beaches,”  said Dario Flota, general director of tourism for the Riviera Maya.

Acanto Hotel & Suites features seven one-bedroom villas with a Zen-like ambiance. Each air-conditioned villa provides a master bedroom, full kitchen, living/dining room and private patio. Property amenities include concierge service, private chef, swimming pool, gardens and a rooftop deck with sunrise-sunset vistas of the Caribbean.

Hidden in the jungle running along the white powder shores of Tulum, Cabanas Copal offers 47 rustic candlelit cabanas. This clothing-optional property celebrates spirituality and strives for total wellness.

Consisting of 42 beachfront suites, the secluded adults-only Hidden Beach Resort Au Natural Club was designed for uninhibited vacationing. It is the only luxurious all-inclusive nudist resort in the Mexican Caribbean.

Hotel Escencia’s 29 suites feature furnishings crafted from native wood, extra-large bathrooms, high-tech audiovisual equipment and in-room high-speed Internet access. Located on a two-mile stretch of Playa Xpu-Ha, the 50-acre resort is built around Casa Grande, a spectacular three-story, nine-suite Great House.

The 38-room Illusion Hotel provides concierge service, a business center, restaurant, pool bar and conference room. Guestroom amenities include a refrigerator, in-room safe, phone, remote control television, air conditioning, ceiling fan and microwave.

La Lunata’s 10 rooms, each named after a different luna (moon) in the solar system, blend traditional Mexican architecture with modern conveniences. Rooms have a private balcony with view of the ocean, garden or the area’s popular 5th Avenue.

The 45 spacious rooms and junior suites of La Tortuga Hotel and Spa are decorated in a typically Caribbean style. A fine-dining restaurant, laid-back lounge and private beach club with scuba-options complete this tropical retreat.

The 26 tastefully decorated one-, two- and three-bedroom beachfront units of Las Villas Akumal each offer a full kitchen, dining area, satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning and safe. All villas have a large oceanfront terrace with Caribbean views.

A short walk from the beach, Mosquito Blue’s 45 rooms and suites surround an orchard and landscaped garden. The property is highlighted by a pair of sensually designed swimming pools providing the foreground for an open-air Italian Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar.

The 81-mile stretch known as the Riviera Maya is situated in the Mexican Caribbean on the coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula. The region features uncrowded beaches, a vast network of underground rivers, more than 100 cenotes, eco-adventure sports, varied activities of eco-archeological parks, golf courses, shopping and gourmet dining.
