Temptation Resort & Spa, a four-star beachfront resort for singles and couples over 21, dares its guests to be tempted at every turn. The new property opened its doors this past December and proudly touts its hip vibe and contemporary take on the all-inclusive holiday.

The resort’s Drops of Love romance package aptly represents the sensual atmosphere of the lifestyle-themed Cancun resort. Think chocolate-covered strawberries, sparkling wine, a couples massage and a personal butler preparing a terrace Jacuzzi with oils, candles and incense. A lobster dinner for two is also served on the terrace or on the beach. The 384-room location offers three room categories: Deluxe, Jacuzzi Rooms or Junior Suites — all offering private terraces or balconies.

Temptation is a slightly tamer concept than its sister property, the clothing-optional Desire Resort and Jamaica’s lifestyle resort mecca, Hedonism. As a somewhat shy single woman, I felt very comfortable at Temptation, whereas I remember feeling a bit on edge when visiting the overtly risque Hedonism, where pretty much anything goes.

Temptation does not allow public intimacy or fully nude sunbathing. However, topless volleyball in one of three swimming pools is a highlighted, daily activity.

Other activities include morning pole dancing classes — liberating, fun and a killer workout for the legs — and additional water and beach sports are led by the resort’s “Cast Members.” With all the outdoor activities — ranging from beach soccer and water polo to windsurfing — it’s easy to see why the fully equipped, oceanview gym stays fairly quiet.

Options abound for off-resort activities, however, Temptation provides so much of its own expertise in this area that most clientele prefer to stay onsite. It is not uncommon for groups to stay onsite for a full two weeks.

Guests can also charter a yacht to nearby Isla Mujeres where a number of party-goers drop anchor at the crystalline shoreline and peek at each other through binoculars. The mostly smooth 30-minute cruise over the cerulean Caribbean bay waters instills a feeling of pure bliss. Taking the ferry to swim with the dolphins at Isla Mujeres is also an excursion that will bring a smile to your face.

Upon checking in, guests are given a wristband, which designates the type of food and alcohol they are allowed to consume on the all-inclusive menu. Guests wearing beige-colored premium bracelets are treated as VIPs and offered upgrades on alcoholic beverages and additional menu selections at the resort’s 24-hour bevy of bars and specialty gourmet restaurants. Low-carb and vegetarian options are also available.

One of the signature after-dinner drinks at the a la carte restaurants is the crowd-pleasing Sexy Coffee, which is prepared tableside with a masterful presentation of fire pouring. Gourmands and oenophiles will appreciate the variety of gastronomic experiences found at Temptation, along with extensive wine lists.

Part of the Original Resorts family, the locale also offers theme nights, such as “PJs & Lingerie Casino,” complete with a lingerie show; and Las Vegas-inspired performances, like “Temptation,” featuring hot showgirls (and guys) dancing erotic numbers. Although not quite Cirque du Soleil, there are impressive acrobatics, elaborate costumes, and the acts are thoroughly entertaining — sometimes even interactive.

Other nighttime entertainment includes the central meeting spot, Paty’O Lounge — a hip, Miami Beach-styled, outdoor bar area — as well as a sports bar and discotheque. Guests can also opt for the nightly excursions to the Cancun club scene. Tempation is located between the hotel zone’s Party Central and downtown Cancun, just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport.

The resort’s motif is a shiny red apple, ala the Garden of Eden, a theme carried throughout the hotel in sculptures, on pillows and in paintings. Each room is equipped with a red Sexy Light that highlights a silver apple in a recessed frame, set into the headboard.

Guests can also pamper themselves in the property’s five-star spa, where one of the most popular sessions is the Four-hands Massage, which features two different therapists working with synchronized strokes to smooth out aches and pains. Regional oils and lotions are used in the spa treatments.

All in all, Temptation Resort & Spa is an ideal setting for bachelor or bachelorette parties, anniversaries and weddings. Wedding packages include a complimentary wedding planner.
