A new luxury boutique brand in Mexico, Unik Island Resort & Spa, will open its 84-suite, flagship hotel on Nov. 1. The resort will be located just off the coast of Cancun on Isla Mujeres, accessed by a 25-minute private yacht transfer. Upon arrival, guests will register at the dockside reception area where the staff plans on greeting them with light appetizers and beverages.
“We’re raising the bar as far as hotels on this island are concerned,” commented Patricia de la Pena, vice president of the Unik Resorts.
“With Unik Island Resort & Spa, we’re looking to attract the discerning traveler who has stayed at upscale hotels around the world. We want them to find in Isla Mujeres the same impeccable service and exquisite surroundings that they have grown accustomed to during their travels here in our corner of the globe,” she said.
The suites will receive twice-daily maid service and will feature flat-screen televisions, DVD players, iPod docking stations, high-speed wireless Internet, laptop-sized safes, fully-stocked mini-bars, 400 count bed linens and more. Other amenities include aromatherapy turndown service, candles, bathrobes and slippers.
Cuisine ranging from Asian to Mexican to Continental will be served in Unik Island’s six restaurants and bars. The poolside restaurant, Breeze will serve lunch and dinner while Pearl promises a contemporary dining experience. Another highlight, the Turquoise Lounge, serves cigars and drinks in the evenings and high tea in the afternoon.
The centerpiece of the new resort will be its elegant pool area, which Unik Island is building on four levels to mimic the natural surroundings, creating pools that gracefully cascade down into the next.
Also notable, is the resort’s meeting and group facilities, which will accommodate groups of more than 200. For those who choose to use the space for a wedding, a full-service wedding planner and a selection of wedding packages will be available.
