With an aim to honor Cozumel’s key travel partners, the Cozumel
Hotel Association will host GALA Cozumel 2007, Oct. 12-14.
To recognize the island’s top tour operators, wholesalers and
airlines in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, the two-day GALA
celebration will include an awards ceremony, various island
activities and personal hotel tours.
The Museum of the Island of Cozumel will host a special
presentation and cocktail reception on Oct. 12 and an awards
dinner, sponsored by American Express and the Cozumel Hotel
Association, will be held on the evening of Oct. 13 at the
Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort and Spa.
Guests can also take part in a special golf tournament to be
hosted by the Cozumel Country Club.
“The tourism industry is key to Cozumel and we recognize the
vital role that our travel partners play in helping build Cozumel
as a premier travel destination,” said Gaston Cantarell, president
of the Cozumel Hotel Association. “GALA is our way of showing our
appreciation to our friends in the industry for their continued
support of the island.”
First conceived in 1988 by the Cozumel Hotel Association, GALA
was established to thank the international tourism community. The
celebration has also provided the association with the opportunity
to showcase Cozumel’s continual growth, highlighting the island’s
wide range of accommodations, services and amenities along with the
destination’s natural attractions and activities.
Cozumel offers an improved tourist infrastructure, as well as a
collection of hotels and resorts. New and renewed tourist
attractions include The Museum of the Island of Cozumel, Chankanaab
Park, Discover Mexico Theme Park, The Cozumel Country Club,
Atlantis Submarine and Hacienda Antigua Tequila Tour.
