It just keeps getting better for Kor Hotel Group. The Los
Angeles-based company is set to acquire the five-star Ikal del Mar
resort located near the village of Xcalacoco on the Yucatan
Peninsula, ten miles north of Playa Del Carmen.
"The Ikal del Mar resort will allow us to enhance our presence
on Mexico's quickly-developing Mayan Riviera, an area characterized
by increasingly high-end U.S. and foreign travel," noted Brad
Korzen, Kor’s CEO.
"The resort's close proximity to our upcoming Tides Playa del
Carmen, and Viceroy Riviera Maya Resort and Residence emphasizes
even further the extent of our involvement in the region,” Korzen
added. “This stunning property is an ideal addition to our growing
portfolio of international hotels and resorts."
Touted as a “sexy, eco-conscious hideaway in the jungle" by
Travel + Leisure, Ikal del Mar is situated on some six acres of
Caribbean waterfront property and stands as one of the few
boutique-scale, five-star luxury resorts on the Yucatan
Intimate and serene, the resort's design respects and
accentuates its dramatic setting. Thirty stand-alone palapas tucked
within lush jungle allow guests a level of privacy not found at
other area resorts. At over 650 square feet each, spacious suites
are equipped with plunge pools and secluded private terraces.
The property’s comprehensive "jungle spa" features a beachfront
yoga studio, Mayan Temazcal steam treatment cave and retail
boutique offering indigenous crafts and products.
