Riviera Nayarit received an early Christmas present this year with the opening of Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta. Formerly the Allegro Nuevo Vallarta, the new all-inclusive resort is a completely renovated and rebranded resort overlooking the Bay of Banderas on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
The new resort is a convenient 25-minute drive north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and a 35-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta’s busy downtown area, with its excellent shopping, dining and local color.
“The Occidental Grand properties are extremely popular,” said Richard Kirby, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Occidental Hotels & Resorts. “We are thrilled to be up and running in the Riviera Nayarit, an ideal location for an Occidental Grand property, easily accessible with a spectacular beach and endless activities.”
The Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta features 270 rooms and suites. The resort’s four new restaurants are Los Olivos, an Italian and Mediterranean-style eatery; La Hacienda, which serves authentic Mexican specialties; Le Buffet, a gourmet international buffet; and the Royal Club Restaurant, which caters to Royal Club guests and serves international cuisine. The resort also has the Beach Bar, Lounge Bar and Snack Bar serving libations and snacks.
Travelers looking to add a touch of exclusivity to their vacation can take advantage of Royal Club accommodations. A boutique-style resort within each Occidental Grand property, Royal Club accommodations provide personalized services and VIP amenities including extra-spacious suites, a personal concierge, private check-in and check-out services, room service, luxurious linens and pillows (including a pillow-menu), Etro toiletries, evening turndown service, a fruit basket, plush bathrobes and preferred seating at a la carte restaurants.
Additional features and amenities at the resort include one pool (and a smaller wading pool for kids) and increased meeting space for groups of up to 150 people. The resort also offers wedding and honeymoon programs and packages.
Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta vacations include unlimited meals and snacks, a la carte dining in specialty restaurants, sports (including tennis on an illuminated court, water polo, aqua aerobics and kayaking) and use of the fitness center. Daily entertainment and a supervised Kids Club (ages 4–12) are also part of the package, as well as nightly shows, live entertainment and all taxes and gratuities. The concierge will assist with other services, such as massage services, nearby golf, car rentals, excursions and babysitting.
Travel professionals can book clients at Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta with winter rates starting from $114. Travel agents can get an even better deal, with agent rates from $75 per person, per night, based on double occupancy through April 7.
Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is the sixth Occidental Grand property in the hotel collection, joining two others in Mexico, Occidental Grand Xcaret and Occidental Grand Cozumel; as well as Occidental Grand Aruba; Occidental Grand Papagayo in Costa Rica; and Occidental Grand Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
