Casa Velas Hotel Boutique
Accommodations, ranging from Master Suites to the four-bedroom Presidential Suite, are well-appointed with local art and luxury amenities. Several have private plunge pools.
Casa Velas Hotel Boutigue is an ideal hideaway for golfers and spa lovers.
Rarely does a small resort have as much to offer as Casa Velas Hotel Boutique. This picturesque hotel, with only 80 suites, is an all-inclusive hideaway for adults only, a few minutes’ drive from the Puerto Vallarta airport. Situated on the magnificent 18-hole Marina Vallarta Golf Course, it boasts both Leading Small Hotels of the World and AAA Four-Diamond status.
All guests are allowed daily use of the hydrotherapy area, which includes the sauna, steam room, whirlpool and lockers, even when treatments are not scheduled. Spa treatments are not part of the all-inclusive format, but the personal attention and rejuvenating experience are well worth the extra cost. While enjoying a flower foot bath, I sipped on chlorophyll water — a cleansing drink with a pleasant taste despite the name. After a soothing hot-stone treatment, I was escorted to the relaxation room for a whirlpool soak while enjoying more agua chlorifia. This was followed by quiet time in a secluded garden room as the effects of the massage did their magic.
Accommodations, ranging from Master Suites to the four-bedroom Presidential Suite, are well-appointed with local art and luxury amenities. (Several have private plunge pools, too.) But perhaps the best perk about vacationing here is the special off-site access.
A free shuttle connects hotel guests to the private, oceanfront Beach Club a short distance away, where a sandy beach, a pool, beach lounges and a Jacuzzi invite relaxation. The Beach Club restaurant and lounge serves sushi and sandwiches for lunch, plus an Asian bistro menu for dinner. The Beach Club’s terrace, with glistening Bay of Banderas in the background, is a popular site for weddings and receptions.
Casa Velas guests can also shuttle to the much larger sister property, Velas Vallarta Suite Resort & Convention Center, for beach, pool and restaurant privileges.
Two all-inclusive, super-value packages are available through Dec. 20, and require a three-night minimum stay. The Luxury Spa package costs $290 per person, per night, based on double occupancy, in a Grand Class Suite with a pool, a 50-minute holistic massage; a romantic four-course dinner on the beach surrounded by ocean breezes and tiki torches; VIP shuttle service to and from the airport; and shuttle service to Velas Vallarta for lunch or dinner at La Ribera Steakhouse, as well as a gourmet dinner at Andrea Restaurant.
Alternately, the Unlimited Golf package costs $245 per person, per night, based on double occupancy in a Master Suite and gives clients unlimited access to two courses. Casa Velas’ course, the Jack Nicklaus-designed Marina Vallarta golf course, features palm-lined fairways and challenging water hazards. At nearby Vista Vallarta Golf Club, Tom Weiskopf made excellent use of dramatic elevations, deep ravines and rushing creeks. The shuttle service to Vista Vallarta and two meals there are included.
The adults-only feature, in addition to the subdued scenic atmosphere and excellent service, make Casa Velas an excellent choice for couples looking for uninterrupted time together.
