AVC Named President’s Elite Travel Partner By NCL

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has selected America’s Vacation Center (AVC) its “President’s Elite Travel Agency of the Year.”

AVC is supported by a network of hundreds of independent professional travel agents in North America, and is one of the top-producing travel agencies in the American Express Travel Representative Network. AVC was inducted into the exclusive NCL President’s Club Elite in 2005, and is presented with the President’s Elite Travel Agency of the Year award in order to recognize its unparalleled sales growth and high-quality network of professional travel agents.

Abracosa Joins Fairmont Miramar

The 302-room Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., appointed G’nell Abracosa as director of sales. In this capacity, she will oversee all sales efforts within the leisure, business travel and tour/wholesale markets, as well as assisting in management of day-to-day operations.

“We are pleased to have G’nell as part of our sales and marketing group,” said Desmond Acheson, general manager of The Fairmont Miramar Hotel. “Her sales and operational experience will greatly enhance the sales efforts of our talented team.”

A veteran in the hospitality industry, Abracosa brings more than 19 years of experience to the seaside property. She joins the hotel from her most recent position with Venture2 Hospitality Services. Prior to that, she held the position of director of western region sales at L.A. Inc. During her career, Abracosa has worked with industry leaders like Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Loews Corporation, Millennium Hotels and Resorts and Hilton Corporation.



A New Director At Holland America

Holland America Line has named George Howell director, air/sea and documentation. Howell will be responsible for enhancing guest air arrangements and leading GDS system negotiations and management. He will also manage the documentation fulfillment for Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises. “George comes with strong planning and organizational skills,” said Brendan Vierra, vice president, guest programs. “His leadership and travel technology abilities will be invaluable as we further improve upon and achieve our initiatives in the air and documentation areas.”

Howell comes to Holland America Line from Cruise West, where he served as vice president of revenue development.
