As we move into the new year, I am proud to announce the call for entries for our fourth annual Trendsetters Awards, which honor travel agents who stand out among their peers. This year, we created categories that we believe reflect the difficulties agents faced in 2009, such as “Best Recession Survival Story or Strategy” and “Travel Agent Sales Superstar.” The final two categories return from previous years: “Best Community Service Effort” and “Best Group Booking Sales Effort.” Last year, the community service award was a particular favorite as we were treated to exceptional stories of agents that dedicated themselves to making a substantial — even life-saving — impact on their communities. For Best Group Booking Effort, we want to hear about your most difficult group last year, and how you managed to pull it off.
This year’s contest is once again supported with prizes courtesy of some of the best suppliers in the industry, including Royal Caribbean International/Celebrity Cruises, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Monograms and Gogo Worldwide Vacations. In addition, the winning agents will attend our WAVE Awards banquet in Beverly Hills, Calif., and will be featured in a cover story.
