Air New Zealand Gets Connected

New aircraft offers mobile phone and data capability in-flight

Air New Zealand will enable its new Boeing 777-300 aircraft, due for delivery this November, with mobile phone and data capability, allowing passengers to be able to use their iPhone, BlackBerry and GSM mobile phones safely in-flight. Laptop users will also be able to access the Internet via a mobile broadband connection. Voice calls, however, will not be enabled, and passengers will be requested to keep their phones silent during flight. Standard in-flight roaming costs and other charges still apply, and the new service remains subject to regulatory approval.
