American Applies for New Japan Routes

Chicago and Dallas flights to start next year

American Airlines applied with the Transportation Department here for new routes to Japan, proposing to start Chicago-Nagoya service April 3, followed by Dallas-Osaka service next Nov. 1. Both routes would operate with 777 aircraft configured for 236 seats.

The carrier already serves Tokyo from both U.S. gateways, and from New York, Los Angeles and San Jose, Calif.
