Saint Lucia recently welcomed more than 130 travel professionals, including 60 travel agents from the U.S., Canada and the U.K., for the first annual Saint Lucia Love Elevated Wedding Symposium. Held at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, the symposium featured seminars about the destination wedding industry, marketing to brides and creating the ideal destination wedding experience. Agents also attended a wedding-themed trade show and were treated to a mock wedding and reception at Pigeon Island National Park, cocktails and site inspections at Cap Maison and Beau Rivage Village and a boat cruise to the charming town of Soufriere.

“Our first-ever wedding symposium was a great success,” said Tracey Warner Arnold, deputy director of tourism for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board. “According to our survey of participants, 86.9 percent indicated that the symposium has better equipped them to sell weddings in Saint Lucia and 91 percent said they will be planning more weddings on Saint Lucia as a result of attending the retreat.”

The next symposium is slated for September of 2014.
