As I write this, I have just returned from the annual United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) conference, held in New Orleans. This year, the event was especially meaningful as the group honored past president Bob Whitley, who died earlier this year, and welcomed new president, Terry Dale.

In many ways, this has been an important year in travel. We have seen leadership changes at several organizations, giving a new generation of leaders an opportunity to guide us. As we put the economic crisis behind us, the industry seems set to rise from the ashes with a renewed confidence in the importance of travel as an economic driver, as well as its role as an essential way to bring more joy to people.

So, before we send out this final issue of 2010 to the printer, I would like to thank you, our readers, for sharing the ups and downs of the past year with TravelAge West. We look forward to continuing the journey with you in 2011 and beyond.
