Christophe Thomas has joined The Palace Hotel as its newest general manager. Located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, within walking distance of such famous city spots as Union Square and the Embarcadero, the property features 553 guestrooms and is home to The Garden Court and Pied Piper Bar & Grill, both award-winning restaurants.

Thomas assumes his new role in the Palace after more than 20 years of experience in hotel management. His career has taken him to, among many other places, Ecuador, Brazil and Morocco. In 2000, he became director of revenue management for The Drake Hotel in Chicago and in 2003, he was promoted to director of rooms, in which role he increased room profitability. In 2005, as hotel manager for the Ian Schrager Hotel Group, he helped open the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City. He became general manager of the Shoreham Hotel in NYC in 2007 and then joined the W Union Square in 2008, where he served until assuming his position for the Palace. As general manager of the W, Thomas led his team to the second-highest Guest Experience Index Score for all American W properties and oversaw the renovation of the property as well.

“The Palace will go through some major changes over the next few years,” Thomas said. “We are excited about the opportunity for the entire team to work together to create an elevated experience for our guests. I am thrilled to join this iconic property in San Francisco and look forward to meeting and getting to know our clients, partners and neighbors and becoming involved in this wonderful community.”
