This issue’s cover story, “Ten Beloved Hawaii Hotels” (page 14), will undoubtedly prompt a few comments from readers. It may be difficult to describe what makes some hotels more “beloved” than others but, if you are like me, you know it when you feel it. As you stroll around the property, there is an almost magical ambience.
These properties have rich histories, unique locations and architecture, plenty of repeat business and loyal (some might say fanatical) followings. These are hotels with Twitter followers and Facebook fan groups that were not started by PR firms and that are regularly the subject of bloggers.
I’m sure that many of you would have no problem coming up with your own list of beloved Hawaii hotels, so we invite you to share your list with us either by commenting on the story on our Web site at TravelAgeWest.com/CoverStory
or by sending us an e-mail at Letters@TravelAgeWest.com
While you are thinking about your favorites, it’s time again for our annual WAVE Awards balloting. This is the chance for travel agents in the West to vote for some of their favorite resorts, destinations, cruise lines, tour operators, airlines and more. This year, the voting will take place online from April 1-30. Just go to TravelAgeWest.com/2010WAVEAwards
where you will find the awards ballot (also on page 22 of this issue).
And don’t think for a moment that your vote doesn’t matter — this is a great way to acknowledge the companies that are standing up for agents, and I guarantee that the suppliers will take notice!
