It now appears certain IATAN will cease to exist in its current
form in the next year to 18 months, as IATA no longer sees the need
for a separate subsidiary in the United States. IATA wants to fold
the operation into IATA itself and convert the board of directors
into an advisory group. If that happens, existing IATAN programs
will continue, and it is likely IATAN will oversee all of IATA’s
agency ID programs worldwide, said IATA’s Chris Gilbey, chairman of
the IATAN board.
