Guiding Your Journeys

Ken Shapiro will lead you on your way

For 36 years TravelAge West has served as a trusted guide for the travel industry in the West. As noted by our tagline on the cover of each issue, our goal is to lead you in “exploring travel favorites and frontiers.” This requires a strong guide to help you along the way.

We are thrilled to introduce you to that guide although no introduction is likely necessary. Our readers will undoubtedly recognize Ken Shapiro, who has just been named Executive Editor at TravelAge West. Since joining our staff in 2002, Ken has very ably served as Destinations Editor. In that position, he was responsible for assigning a small army of writers to cover travel in the four corners of the world from well-known spots such as Vegas and Mexico, to more remote destinations such as Vietnam and ice hotels in Alaska.

Armed with degrees from UCLA and Columbia University, Ken brings with him more than 10 years’ experience in magazine editorial. His goal is to “inform and inspire agents with fresh ideas and new looks at classic destinations.” Ken also intends to educate the travel community on the very latest the industry has to offer. “TravelAge West will stay ahead of the curve. The West tends leads the rest of the country, and we intend to uphold that tradition.”

So drop Ken a line to offer him congratulations or to offer up a few suggestions.
