DISNEY MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE
The stars turned out on July 16 to support a special Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship in San Pedro, Calif. To start the evening’s events, Disney CEO Michael Eisner presented a $1 million dollar check raised by that evening’s event to the foundation. COO and CEO-Elect Bob Iger then presented a surprise second check for an additional $1 million from Disney to match the funds raised.

Thirty Southern Californian children had their wishes come true during the night’s festivities. Highlights of the fundraiser included a book signing by 14-year-old Travis Flores, who wished to be an author, and Ashley Gullap, age 12, who wished to meet Disney Channel star Raven.


GRAND HYATT DFW CELEBRATES OPENING
The Grand Hyatt DFW opened this month with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a patriotic celebration. The event included participation by U.S. troops, a donation to the USO and activities honoring military service. The 12-story, 298-room hotel is connected to the new International Terminal D at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. EDMONDSON NAMED GM AT WAIKOLOA
Carol Edmondson was named general manager for Aston’s Waikoloa Colony Villas situated on the Waikoloa Beach Resort in Hawaii. As general manager, her primary responsibilities will include overseeing the management of the property and guest services.

Edmondson has been with Aston for 16 years and was previously the general manager of Kona by the Sea. She has also served as general manager for Kamaole Sands, Kona Islander Inn and The Royal Sea Cliff.


GOGO APPOINTS HAYDEN
Thomas A. Hayden has been appointed vice president of sales for Gogo Worldwide Vacations. Previously, he was executive director of sales for Entertainment Publications, Interactive Corp. where he led sales and marketing efforts for the company’s merchant categories. Hayden also held the position of publisher with ASTA Agency Management travel division.

As the vice president of sales for Gogo, Hayden will be responsible for overseeing sales and marketing and new business development.


TING STARTS AT SHERATON HONG KONG
Viola Ting Shuk Yee has been appointed assistant director of sales, business development at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers. In her new position, Ting will be responsible for revenue targets and provide direction and manage sales activities. She is also accountable for corporate group and events business.
