On Aug. 21, teams from the Israel Ministry of Tourism and US Airways came up with a cooperation strategy for 2008 and 2009. Next summer, US Airways — the fifth largest domestic airline — will launch the only nonstop service between Philadelphia and Israel. Currently, the daily, year-round service between Tel Aviv and Philadelphia is scheduled to begin on July 2, 2009.
"We are delighted by US Airways’ decision to begin flying nonstop flights from Philadelphia to Israel," said Rami Levi, Israel’s special emissary and consul. "We expect US Airways’ presence in the U.S.-Tel Aviv market to enhance economic growth and tourism opportunities for both the U.S. and Israel."
