Marriott International will unveil its newest lifestyle brand of hotels — Edition Hotels — this year with two properties: The Waikiki Edition, opening in October 2010, and The Istanbul Edition, slated to open later this year. Other properties are also scheduled to open in Mexico City, Barcelona and Bangkok. By working with famed hotelier and designer Ian Schrager, who served as a creative consultant, Marriott hopes the new Edition brand of hotels will appeal to guests who seek an individualized and customizable hotel experience. The Waikiki Edition will feature a restaurant by chef Masaharu Morimoto; a nightclub; a unique Sunrise Pool; a Private Sunset Beach with its own lagoon; a full-service spa; an outdoor movie theater; and more. The 77-room Istanbul Edition will feature a restaurant, a 20,000-square-foot spa by Espa and more.
