After an uproar by the travel agency community, Northwest Airlines
withdrew its proposed “Shared GDS Fee,” which would charge agents a
$7.50 fee for each domestic roundtrip booked on a GDS.
However, Northwest maintained new fees for consumers who book
through call centers ($5) and airport ticket offices ($10). As of
press time, American Airlines, Continental and US Airways also
adopted the same consumer fee policies, which all took effect
earlier this month.
