Get More NYC: Lower Manhattan is a campaign designed to promote Lower Manhattan to both tourists and travel professionals. The announcement was made by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and took place during the U.S. Travel Association’s International Pow Wow in San Francisco.

The campaign formally began on June 1, and participating hotels are offering a complimentary Downtown Culture Pass and new travel itineraries. In addition, Lower Manhattan shops, restaurants, attractions and cultural institutions are offering special 20 percent discounts. Ads promoting Lower Manhattan are displayed throughout New York’s five boroughs.

The campaign aims to encourage the development of the businesses, cultural attractions and open space in the area, including the 9/11 Memorial, which will open to visitors on Sept. 12. It is designed to further the recovery and revitalization of Lower Manhattan. www.nycgo.com/getmorenyc
