NZ Drops Pay; UA Courts Agencies

Air New Zealand dropped its base commission to zero percent for non-preferred agents.

Air New Zealand dropped its base commission to zero percent for non-preferred agents. The airline made the decision “after a review of distribution costs and in light of industry trends.” It will, however, continue to pay $10 per roundtrip booked at www.airnztravelagent.com. Preferred agents will contine to earn for NZ sales. ... As United Airlines fights for financial stability, it has hired a Scottsdale, Ariz., marketing firm “to help supplement its sales efforts to travel agencies,” according to a press release. The release goes on to say that the new partnership “will help strengthen United’s commitment to, and ongoing focus on, the travel agency community.”
