Timothy Scholz has been appointed the new chief operating officer of South African Tourism. Scholz brings expertise to the company in many areas of the South African economy, having served as chief financial officer of the Nelson Mandela Foundation in 2003 and as the chairman of two nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving young entrepreneurs and creating jobs in rural areas.

Scholz has also worked in the corporate services, financial and retail sectors. He holds a post-graduate diploma in information and knowledge management from the University of Johannesburg and an Institute of Accounting Commerce Membership as an accounting officer.
