New Year, New Frontiers

Anyone who has visited our offices can tell you that the wall opposite my desk is filled with framed covers of TravelAge West. I replace the oldest cover when each new one is printed, so most of the year the wall represents our work over the past 12 months. With this final issue of the year, for the next two weeks (until our Jan. 7 issue), my wall will show every cover from 2007 making it look much like the layout you see here.

It may sound silly, but I get a lot of satisfaction from that wall. I enjoy looking back on the destinations we’ve covered, from Dublin to Beijing to Waikiki; the topics such as ecotourism, fam trips, meetings and niche marketing; and the agents and companies we’ve profiled. But perhaps the greatest joy I get looking at the covers is knowing the hard work our dedicated and talented staff put into every issue and knowing that we get to continue our journey again next year. Happy holidays. K.S.
