New York City recently reached a multimillion-dollar, two-year agreement with American Airlines to launch a new nationwide marketing campaign for the city. Also, American and JetBlue Airways have come to an agreement that will offer increased flight connections in an effort to bring more travelers to New York City. American is investing more than $30 million at both John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports for terminal enhancements and upgraded aircraft. This summer, American and American Eagle will add a total of 31 new flights on 13 new routes to and from the city.
NYC & Company, the city’s marketing and tourism organization, will also develop Stopover & Stay promotion to encourage passengers with connections in New York to stay for one or more nights. Under the new agreement, American will also serve as NYC & Company’s exclusive airline carrier during a two-year promotional and advertising campaign through 2012.
