At Skal International’s Opening Ceremony of the 72nd Skal World Congress, held in Turku, Finland, President of Skal International, Tony Boyle, presented industry suppliers with the organization’s Sustainable Development in Tourism Awards.

The awards program was initiated in 2002 as the Ecotourism Awards but, this year, Skal also considered eco and responsible tourism as part of the greater picture of sustainable tourism. As a result, the ceremony is now known as the Sustainable Development in Tourism Awards.

Among the winners were Gamewatchers Safaris and Porini Safari Camps of Kenya, Our Native Village of India, Hotel Stadhthalle of Austria, the island of Cres in Croatia and Blue Star of France.
