Robin Tauck delivers supplies
to Panapompom Island.
Tauck World Discovery recently visited the remote island nation of Papua New Guinea to deliver several hundred pounds of much-needed medical supplies, school materials, clothing and other essentials donated by Tauck employees and guests on the cruise aboard the M/V Orion. The effort was organized by company president, Robin Tauck, who traveled on the cruise and oversaw the distribution of the materials.
Promotions at Pacific Delight
Pacific Delight Tours has recently promoted Patricia Luk to chairman and CEO of the company and Sophia Luk is now president.
Patricia Luk has taken over for her late husband and has played a major role in the company for many years. Her ongoing responsibilities include supervision of financial performance, maintenance of customer satisfaction, continuing the growth of the company and working with the management team.
Sophia Luk has worked for Pacific Delight Tours for 28 years, starting in marketing and sales. She was promoted in 2001 to senior vice president and led the company’s marketing, product planning and pricing sectors. In 2005 she was made COO, making her additionally in charge of reservations, sales and inventory control. Her new position now makes her a key player in all aspects of the company.
Conrad Appoints New GM
Gregor Andreewitch has been named general manager of the Conrad Tokyo. He will be in charge of managing all operational efforts, striving to make the Conrad Tokyo a premier luxury hotel in the city. Andreewitch brings with him 25 years of experience working in the hospitality industry. Previously, he worked for the Drake Hotel in Chicago and before that with Hilton hotels in Belgium, Germany, Lesotho, Bahrain, Venezuela, Trinidad, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
“Gregor brings with him an admirable reputation for managing iconic properties, having most recently been general manager of the renowned Drake Hotel,” said Koos Klein, president, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Asia Pacific. “He has also joined us at a very exciting time, when the Conrad Tokyo’s panoramic views, contemporary Japanese design and avant-garde dining experiences have placed it among Tokyo’s top luxury hotels in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2008.”
Peninsula’s New Director
The Peninsula Beverly Hills has a new managing director with the promotion of Offer Nissenbaum to the position. Nissenbaum was previously the regional vice president of operations at Omni Hotels, overseeing nine of the company’s hotels. He has also worked as resident manager for The Plaza Hotel in New York, and in 2006, he was made corporate international liaison for the Global Hotel Alliance. Presently, he is on the board of directors for The New York Hotel Association.
