Among the many outstanding stories in this issue, I would like to call your attention to the first installment of our new Technology feature (page 14). This column will run every other issue and is designed to bring you an insider’s guide to the technological topics and products that relate to our industry.

While you might be able to get the latest tech news in other publications, our goal is to bring you the story behind the story. Not just what is happening in this very important field, but why it is happening and what it will mean to your business. In future issues look for honest, hands-on tests of new Web sites and products; interviews and “explainers” with key industry insiders; and an examination of trends to watch that will help you stay ahead of your competition.

Of course, we will also practice what we preach, with special online-only features related to the Technology page available at TravelAgeWest.com.

The West has always been a source for innovation, especially when it comes to technology. As Westerners we’re proud of that tradition, and we hope this feature will help travel agents in our region continue to be the most tech-savvy agents anywhere. With this new Technology page we will guide you past the change-for-change’s-sake flavor of the moment, to get to those technological products and topics that will really help your business become more efficient.
