Last month, approximately 50 members from the OSSN So Cal Chapters came together for a high tea banquet, meetings, seminars and a tour of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif. The staff of the Queen Mary — including Nicole Campbell, the express meeting manager, and Will Cayne, the “captain” of the ship-turned-hotel — gave insight into the Queen Mary’s storied past.
Skye Mayring, Associate Editor of TravelAge West
magazine, spoke with agents about how to effectively work with the media to gain recognition as a travel authority. Strategies included drafting an informative press release, reaching out to select media outlets, creating a media database, keeping effective high-resolution photography on hand and more.
In addition, Carnival Cruise Line’s Jennifer Buenrostro-Ramirez conducted a seminar about the cruise line’s fundraising cruise program. She announced the line’s newly implemented non-smoking policy and informed agents about the stand-out features of the new Carnival Magic.
The next OSSN So Cal Chapters meeting will take place on Oct. 5.
