Climbing to New Heights

New lodging options in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., mean new opportunities for agents

As Southern Californian’s know, Mammoth Mountain is one of the top ski destinations in the country, and for the last few years, the town of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., has been undergoing a growth spurt as the popularity of Mammoth spreads nationwide.

The rebirth of the former gold-rush mining town began in 2003 with the opening of The Village. This new shopping and dining enclave also offers client direct access to Mammoth Mountain’s Canyon Lodge as well as an upscale three upscale condo lodges - Grand Sierra Lodge, White Mountain Lodge and Lincoln House – which can all be booked through Mammoth’s central reservations. Incorporated into the three lodges are various amenities which include five hot tubs, ski storage, underground parking, a fitness center, media room, arcade, concierge, in-house ski and snowboard rental and more. At The Village, clients will find all the amenities as a hotel with the benefit of having the choice of one-, two- and three-bedroom condos complete with kitchens and living areas.

New this year, Starwood Hotels and Resorts opened the Westin Monache. Located across the road from The Village, this is the first full-service, luxury hotel to open in the area. The 230-suites are decked out with Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed, fitness rooms, 32-inch LCD TV, custom fireplaces and kitchens, wireless Internet and more. The hotel offers a full-service concierge, valet parking, ski valet, on-site rentals, Westin Kids Club heated pool and hot tubs, as well as business services and underground parking. The property also has over 2,000 square feet of meeting space and high-tech audio-visual equipment. And, since it is located just steps from The Village, clients can take advantage of fine dining and direct access to Mammoth Mountain, without having to drive.

Clients who want to stay close to the slopes can opt for the recently renovated Mammoth Mountain Inn. Located next to the Main Lodge, the hotel offers ski-in/ski-out access to the mountain, 24-hour reception, indoor spas, outdoor pool, meeting and banquet facilities and more. Clients have their choice of a suite units or condo units with a kitchen and dining area. Rooms are equipped with refrigerators, TV/DVD, telephone and high-speed Internet access.

As Mammoth Lakes enjoys another boom in development, expect this small mining town to keep on growing up and enticing clients with year-round entertainment.
