During the opening celebrations of New Fantasyland at Walt Disney World, Disney showcased its newest property to media delegates: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The value property is situated adjacent to Disney’s Pop Century Resort and features 1,120 family suites and 864 standard rooms across four themed wings: “Finding Nemo,” “Cars,” “The Lion King” and “The Little Mermaid.”

The “Cars” wing is comprised of 480 family suites inspired by the Pixar animated film “Cars.” Each family suite features two bathrooms, a kitchenette and three separate sleeping areas that together sleep up to six guests. Two of these sleeping areas include a pull-out sofa bed and a dining table that transforms into a double-size murphy bed — perfect for little ones. While for parents, there’s a master bedroom with queen-size bed and a separate bathroom.

Like the “Cars” wing, the “Finding Nemo” and “The Lion King” wings also feature family suites (each with 320 suites total) while, in “The Little Mermaid” wing, there are 864 standard hotel rooms with two double beds and sleeping up to four guests.

As with all of Disney’s properties, families staying at Art of Animation will enjoy all the Disney detail — large and small — built into every corner of the resort. Guests will be inspired by their favorite scenes from the movies showcased at this property but also to the attention paid to the animation process, especially as it is featured in the hotel lobby.

“Our goal was to make guests feel like they have been immersed in the artistry and enchantment of Walt Disney and Disney Pixar animated classics,” said Frank Paris, Walt Disney Imagineer.

Families taking a break from Walt Disney World’s four theme parks will have much to do on the resort property, with three pool areas that include the Cozy Cone pool in the Cars wing, Flippin’ Fins Pool in The Little Mermaid Courtyard and the resort’s main swimming pool, Big Blue, located at the centre of Art of Animation.

Big Blue is the largest resort swimming pool at Walt Disney World and measures 11,859 square feet. Here, guests can swim with Dory and Nemo as underwater speakers play music and messages from film characters. There’s also a Schoolyard Sprayground for more water fun as well as a dry children’s play area at Righteous Reef.

Resort dining options include a poolside snack bar, pizza delivery and the Landscape of Flavors food court, located in the main Animation Hall. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food court features items such as fresh smoothies, hand-scooped gelato and Mongolian barbecue. On property, guests will also find the Pixel Play Arcade, Drop Off pool bar and Ink and Paint gift shop.

Rates for a family suite at Disney Art of Animation resort start at $248 per night, while the standard room rate starts at $94 per night.
