Oceanview Opportunities

The Hilton Waterfront in Huntington Beach, Calif., offers a prime location for groups and events

The AAA Four-Diamond Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort, overlooking Huntington Beach, recently completed a $10 million renovation. With 290 guestrooms, including 24 suites, and over 21,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, the hotel is primed to accommodate groups for events from corporate meetings to oceanview weddings. The resort also boasts Shades Restaurant & Bar, a heated pool and whirlpool, and The West Coast Club lounge and bar.

TAW spoke with Roger Burns, director of sales and marketing, to discuss what makes the property so appealing to groups.

Q: What makes the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort so attractive to groups?

A: Located only 20 minutes from the Orange County airport, we are conveniently located, and the destination itself is a benefit. The hotel offers a resort feel, so we can incorporate meetings into a very pleasurable stay. We just redesigned our guestrooms, so the accommodations have a very modern, residential feel. You’re not walking into a hotel room, you’re walking into a home, and all of the guestrooms have ocean views.

Q: What sort of facilities does the property offer?

A: The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort has 2,100 square feet of indoor space and additional outdoor venues for receptions, wedding ceremonies and meetings. We also offer additional services with our in-house audio-visual company, and we offer wireless Internet throughout the hotel and meeting space.

A business center is centrally located by our meeting facilities. The catering team can provide specially designed menus for groups, and we have a banquet kitchen that specializes in meals for groups and weddings.

Q: How does the resort utilize the destination?

A: People at an event don’t want to stare at four walls all day long they want to be connected to the destination. We have two ballrooms with ocean views, which are spectacular for meetings and weddings. We are a wedding destination type of hotel because of our consistent weather and our variety of spaces, from the outdoor patio to poolside, the beach, and many restaurants within walking distance. Meeting attendees can also plan team-building on the beach or enjoy a dine-around night at the restaurants on Main Street. Groups can also take advantage of shopping with our proximity to South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island.

Q: How does the Hilton Waterfront assist agents and clients in planning events?

A: We regularly receive testimonials from meeting planners about the level of service, and that it’s so personalized. We have a convention services department and from the pre-planning stage to the time that the meeting planner leaves, the department works with them to ensure that all their needs are met.

We offer wedding ceremonies, and we’ll really take control of the entire event for the bride and groom. We organize the ceremony site, design the menu and coordinate all the details with our wedding coordinator. We pride ourselves on being a boutique hotel that offers boutique, personalized service.
