The Details

Hamburg-based Sea Cloud Cruises continues to emphasize the cultural aspects and uniqueness of its river yacht voyages.

The River Cloud II will again be cruising between the Ijssel Sea in the Netherlands and Mile marker 1 of the Danube delta in 2013. And from 2013 onward, all cruises will have a theme and be accompanied by an artist, a scientist or a lecturer: maritime, culinary, historical or cultural.

Five April and May eight-day roundtrip Amsterdam Maritime Cruises sail to maritime cities on the Ijssel Sea and small kingdoms and will be accompanied by the director of the International Maritime Museum in Hamburg. There will be a special cruise in a flat-bottomed boat on the Ijssel Sea and a visit to the new museum of emigration, the Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp. Pricing is from $2,575 per person.

River Cloud II also sails from Amsterdam to Nuremberg on an eight-day itinerary with Richard Wagner expert Peter Davids onboard. The cruise visits the Bayreuth Festival Hall and is priced from $2,575 per person.

The company also will operate an eight-day cruise on the Mosel River with artists from the Hamburg School of Music giving concerts both onboard and at shoreside sites such as at the Eberbach Monastery. The cruise sails between Strasbourg and Bernkastel-Kues, departing October 20, from $2,575 per person.
