With the recent release of Sony Pictures’ film rendition of Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestselling novel, "Eat, Pray, Love,” a number of tour operators are offering inspired travel packages that allow clients to experience Italy, India and Bali just as Gilbert did.
STA Travel, in particular, has teamed up with Sony and Lonely Planet to offer a variety of tour packages that introduce travelers to Italy’s food scene, India’s spiritual landmarks and Bali’s romance and adventure. What follows below is just a sampling of trips offered by the tour operator.

Arrive in Rome
Clients arrive in Rome and check into a traditional Roman guesthouse, enjoying free time to savor pizza and gelato, as well as take in some of the city’s most famous landmarks.

On the second day of their trip, clients pick up an mp3 player for a guided audio walking tour of Rome that introduces them to cuisine, history and culture.

Arrive in Delhi
Clients meet their tour guide and spend the rest of the day exploring the city at leisure.
Tour Old Delhi
The morning is spent on a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi, including stops to the Red Fort, Friday Mosque, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat. In the afternoon, clients participate in a curry-cooking demonstration and enjoy a traditional Indian lunch.
Days Three and Four
After transferring to the Delhi airport, clients fly to Varansi to see the ghats at the River Ganges and observe an Aarti (traditional Hindu offering) ceremony at dusk. Accommodations include one night in a heritage hotel located on the banks of the river. The next day, clients board a morning river cruise and visit the famous bathing ghats, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the Durgakund and the Sankatmochan, a shrine to Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god.
Days Five and Six
Clients spend time in Sarnath, which is considered to be a holy site for Buddhists because it is where Buddha first taught the Dharma to his followers. After exploring Sarnath, clients travel to Agra to see the city and its most famous site, the Taj Mahal.
Days Seven and Eight
Clients travel back toward Delhi for a tour of New Delhi, including Birla Mandir, the India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Bahai Temple. The last day includes a morning visit to the Akshardham Teample, the world’s largest Hindu temple complex.
