Each year, Insight Vacations’ past clients parti
cipate in the company’s Travel Forum to design their own touring itinerary based on the destinations and sights they most want to explore. As a result of these requests, Insight has chosen France for its 2012 Travel Forum Members Tour. The new tour has been designed to cover the best France has to offer, from Paris to the cities and towns not usually included on an Insight tour. Guests will enjoy art, explore scenic regional towns, visit vineyards, sample fine French cuisine and stay in some of the finest hotels and chateaus in the country. Clients also have the option of adding a three-day extension tour in Paris, which includes sightseeing around the city and in Montmartre.
This 19-day tour begins in Paris on Sept.15, with a tour of the city. Travel then continues eastward along the Dordogne River, with visits to Reims Cathedral, the cellars of a champagne house, a stop at historic Verdun and a visit to the regional capital of Strasbourg. Highlights of the tour include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Besancon, the classical city of Bordeaux, a visit to the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere in Lyon, three days of exploration in the Dordogne region of southwest France and the opportunity to view the 13,000-year-old drawings inside of Rouffignac Cave, which is said to contain some of Europe’s oldest representations of art. From there, it’s on to the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda, the Loire Valley and more, ending back in Paris for the optional add-on tour.
The 2012 Travel Forum Members Tour is priced from $6,440 per person, based on double occupancy, and Insight will be extending its early payment discount to bookings confirmed and paid for before Jan. 31.
