Every winter, holiday decorations and seasonal attractions transform Disneyland Park into a festive family destination.

There is always the 60-foot Christmas tree on Main Street, the addition of thousands of twinkling lights and a special fireworks show that lights up Sleeping Beauty’s snow-covered castle each evening. Mr. and Mrs. Claus join Disney characters on the parade route for “A Christmas Fantasy Parade,” and park rides also get into the holiday spirit.

The Haunted House ride is taken over by characters from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas;” and It’s A Small World takes on a new soundtrack, inspired by Christmas carols. This year, the Jungle Cruise also takes a festive turn as the re-imagined Jingle Cruise.

Another new addition this year is the “World of Color – Winter Dreams” spectacular, a brand-new version of the original “World of Color” program in Disney’s California Adventure park.

In “World of Color – Winter Dreams,” creative director Steve Davison incorporates colored lights, dancing fountains and beloved Disney characters projected on massive water scrims, all choreographed to holiday tunes.

The new show also includes characters from Walt Disney Pictures’ new winter-themed film, “Frozen.” The show features technological advances as well, including brand-new, high-definition projection technology and more than 650 new lights mounted on the California Screamin’ rollercoaster.

For an interactive experience, guests can purchase synchronized “Glow with the Show” Mickey ears that change colors in time with the performance. This holiday-inspired rendition of the “World of Color” takes place nightly through Jan. 6.

“Disneyland Resort really embodies the spirit of the holidays,” Davison said. “It’s a place that you visit with your family and friends to get that seasonal cheer and feel the warmth and magic all around you. That’s what we wanted to embody in ‘World of Color –Winter Dreams.’ All of those feelings come to life in a really magical way.”
