Now that stand-up paddle boarding is all the rage, creative minds are coming up with unusual ways to enjoy it. A case in point is Flo-yo (Floating Yoga), the new water fitness class from Fairmont Orchid Hawaii on the Big Island. On calm waters, clients practice yoga poses on a floating board while building strength through balance and resistance and connecting the mind, body and breath. It's billed as a total core workout that combines exercise with the sensation of walking on water. The one-hour class begins with a warm up, sun salutations, balancing poses and paddle techniques, followed by 40 minutes of actual floating.
