Pineapple Tours Crop Up on Maui

New tour invites clients to find out about the heritage of island pineapple

They call them Maui Gold, and rightfully so. The pineapples grown at the Haliimaile Pineapple Plantation are considered juicy gems of the earth. A new tour invites clients to find out about the heritage of island pineapple, from its unique growing cycle to cultivation techniques. Each weekday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., guides share colorful commentary as they weave history and trivia into the tour. Visitors can taste the various stages of the pineapple’s evolution while learning the history and fascinating facts of the sweet fruit. Afterward, each guest receives one pineapple to take home as a souvenir — worth its weight in gold. Rates are $65 per adult and $55 for children ages 5-12.
