For frequent Oahu travelers, the name Ala Moana Center conjures up engaging images of shopping and dining in an expansive open-air mall. Now, the Honolulu retail mecca is adding hula to the mix with free 20-minute stage performances of the classic island dance.

The new Ala Moana Hula Show features an emcee and six performers who share the history and stories of the islands through ancient and modern dance. The production takes place on the facility’s Centerstage each Monday through Saturday at 1 p.m., while Ala Moana’s longstanding keiki (children’s) hula show continues to entertain audiences on Sundays.

In explaining the decision to add daily hula to the Ala Moana mix, the center’s group marketing manager, Scott Creel, said, “We know that most visitors are seeking authentic, cultural experiences while visiting Hawaii.” www.alamoanacenter.com
