From poetry slams to panel discussions, the seventh annual Hawaii Book and Music Festival is a best-seller for lovers of words and melodies. Clients of all ages can meet local, national and international authors and illustrators while enjoying a variety of stage performances, story-telling, live entertainment, book-seller booths, a book swap and a multi-ethnic food court. Among the attending scribes are award-winning journalist Janny Scott; Julia Flynn Siler (“Lost Kingdom: Hawaii’s Last Queen and “America’s First Imperial Adventure”); historical mystery author Rebecca Cantrell; and the prolific Maxine Hong Kingston. The festival takes place May 5 and 6 at Honolulu Hale. www.hawaiibookandmusicfestival.org
