From King Kamehameha the Great’s favorite surfing spots to treasured archaeological landmarks, Kailua Village is chock-full of tourist appeal. Now, the Hawaii Island destination has launched a free smartphone app to enhance the visitor experience. Called Royal Footsteps Along the Kona Coast, the interpretive tool focuses on seven miles of the area’s popular Alii Drive, doling out details on history, culture, recreation, shoreline access and accommodations in the area. Easy-to-use maps help clients locate points of interest while photos enhance the user-friendly nature of this handy new app. When looking for downloads of the app, use the search term Kona Royal Guide or Kona Royal Footsteps. www.historickailuavillage.com
