Movie Tour, VIP-Style

Get a glimpse of Kauai's celebrated film locales By: Marty Wentzel

During the 2010 filming of “The Descendants,” some of the scenes took place at the St. Regis Princeville, showcasing its lobby, beach and presidential suite. Now, the North Shore luxury hotel has teamed up with Kipu Kai Ranch to create a VIP movie tour offering an intimate glimpse of some of Kauai’s celebrated movie locations. While riding around the 3,000-acre working cattle ranch in a comfy all-terrain vehicle, clients can recognize backdrops for such flicks as “Jurassic Park,” “Mighty Joe Young” and “Pirates of The Caribbean, On Stranger Tides.” The two-hour tour serves as a great option for small groups and families. The rates of $234 per adult and $193 per child ages five and older include snacks, bottled water and cold beverages.
