Booking Extras For Celebration Vacations

Jun 29, 2009

Booking Extras for Celebration Vacations // (c) 2009

Special dining experiences and upgraded accommodations are among the most popular requests clients ask travel agents to help them arrange when commemorating a major milestone with a vacation.

Disney recently polled 3,800 travel agents about special activities clients are looking for when celebrating significant life events. Activities of greatest interest to clients when booking a Celebration Vacation include the following:

* enjoy a special meal (59%)
* stay in nicer accommodations (35%)
* group activities (35%)
* buy souvenirs (34%)

“Consumers continue to opt for vacations as a way to celebrate,” said Ed Fouche, senior vice president of travel industry sales for Disney Destinations. “Understanding the special surprises your clients are looking for when taking a celebration vacation will help agents better anticipate their needs and plan more memorable experiences.”

According to those surveyed, agents can also help make the most of a celebration vacation by recommending other services clients may not even think to ask for. Agents cited special tours (27%), private rooms at restaurants (23%) and arranging for a “surprise” (20%) as activities they proactively suggest to those booking a celebration vacation.

The poll was part of the current “What Will You Celebrate” campaign taking place at Disneyland and Walt Disney World which highlights the role these resorts play as the place for consumers to celebrate personal milestones. The campaign continues through December.
