The United is unique both for its design and its convenient location. The design of the hotel from the bathrooms to the lighting to the restaurant is minimalist, but still really accommodating. Our amenities don’t overwhelm the traveler. A couple of my favorite features are the music in the bathrooms and the 24-hour espresso machine in the lobby.
The location of the hotel is what really makes it the place to stay. We’re located right in the heart of one of the best shopping districts. We’re close to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall and just across from an MRT Station.
Definitely pay a visit to Taipei 101 until a month ago it was the tallest building in the world. There’s incredible shopping in the base of the building and you can take the elevator to the top where there are 360-degree views. Also great to visit are the night markets which have all kinds of shopping and snacks and unusual goods. And the food the food in Taiwan is some of the best in the world. Everyone comes here to eat. Definitely try the dumplings!
What do you think a first-time traveler to Taipei would be most surprised by?
The traffic! No one can believe how much traffic there is here. I think we might have more scooters per capita than most Asian cities. At every light there are huge clusters of scooters. Take the MRT! It’s easy, fast and convenient.
Travelers also might be surprised by how clean it is here. Overall, it’s just a very organized city that’s easy to navigate and really pleasurable to explore.
