This year, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will open seven new hotels — most of which are brand-new properties — in growing markets around the globe.Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel in Saudi Arabia, will be the focal point of the Abraj Al Bait Complex, which includes seven towers. The 76-story hotel tower, at about 1,890 feet high, will be among the world’s tallest and will be outfitted with a gigantic clock that is more than five times larger than Big Ben in London. The 154-room Fairmont Zimbali Resort, opening in the second quarter of the year, will be set along South Africa’s east coast, nestled between a forest reserve and the Indian Ocean. In the second or third quarter of 2010, The Savoy in London will open its doors to guests once again after a two-year, approximately $160 million restoration program.Other new properties set to open this year are Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, Fairmont Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Fairmont Beijing. www.fairmont.com
